2015 brought me so many exciting new things. I traveled to Florida in February to second shoot an amazing wedding, headed to Hawaii in March for my first ever “real” vacation, added our insanely adorable (and now a year later insanely huge pain in the ass) puppy to our mix, threw in a couple of camping trips with the kids, gardening, hiking, countless family and senior sessions, and so many amazing weddings. 2015 was GOOD. But I’m excited for the New year.
Twenty-sixteen will be the year of CHANGE. Our family has so much changing in the upcoming weeks, and it is all terrifying/exciting/nerve-wracking as hell.
Some of the things that will be momentarily flipping our lives upside down:
1. I’ve accepted a job offer with a company in Hillsboro. I’ve been so SO BLESSED to have been able to stay home with my little punks for the past 8 years, but I am excited for this new endeavor, and I know that they will be in good hands. I am also looking forward to the structure that this will bring to our overly chaotic home. For the most part our only schedule is no schedule, and I think we will all benefit from a little routine.
2. In November I decided to go back to school. When I found out I was pregnant with Autumn I pushed school to the back burner, you know the saying “if I knew then what I know now…” Yeah. That. School with a baby and a job > school with 5 kids, a farm, a photo business, and a job. What was I thinking?! Anyway, I had told myself way back when that as long as I had finished school before I was 30 I would be fine. Guess who turns 30 this year? Crazy how fast 12 years can fly by, huh? My plans at the time had been to pursue a degree in journalism, now I’m headed back to focus in marketing and dabble in photojournalism and I am pumped! And also scared shitless. School when you are almost 30 with 5 kids = terrifying. But I know it will all be for the best, and the kids are excited. So any good vibes you can send my way for the next 4 years or so will be MUCH appreciated!
3. With all of this change hitting our house all at once I am scaling back on what I take on photographically. From here on our I will be putting my energy and focus on weddings and engagements. I’ve mulled this over in my mind for the last 6 months or more, and while it is a little bittersweet I know it is the right choice for my business and my family. I will be taking on a very small handful of family sessions during the summer months, and I will be running mini sessions one time only. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that announcement when it becomes available.
2016 will be all about change, balance, and loads of hard work and hustle. And we’re welcoming it with open arms!
